Leonard Peltier denied clemency

APTN National News
The man convicted of killing two FBI agents more than 40 years ago has been denied clemency by out-going President Barack Obama.

For four decades, Leonard Peltier has maintained his innocence.

According to a release from Amnesty International Wednesday evening, the U.S. Office of the Pardon Attorney said that Obama would  not be granting Peltier clemency.

Peltier is a former member of the American Indian Movement who was convicted of killing two FBI agents during a shootout on South Dakota’s Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in 1975.

In a Democracy Now! article posted Wednesday, Peltier’s attorney Martin Garbus said that this almost guarantees he will remain behind bars.

“I think it’s fair to say that if he doesn’t get commuted by President Obama, he’ll die in jail. He’s a very sick man,” Garbus said. “So, Obama’s not granting him clemency is like a sentence of death.

The FBI refuses to protect any President in support of Clemency for Leonard Peltier.
When former president Bill Clinton was considering granting clemency for Mr Peltier, the FBI marched on the Whitehouse in protest.
The fact that Leonard Peltier is innocent doesn’t matter to them. What does matter (to the FBI) is saving face and preventing the real truth of the incident from being exposed.
The facts are available and are not at all the same as what people have been led to believe.
