The Native Women’s Association of Canada started the push for a national inquiry into missing and murdered Indigenous women.
While the inquiry was formally announced in September, the panel of five commissioners has yet to call a witness.
On Thursday, NWAC released a report card on how the inquiry is doing so far – and stating that it wants a role in how it deals with families.
President Francyne Joe talked about the inquiry with Cheryl McKenzie.
Do you truly think the government is going to meet its commitment to a fully transparent and morally satisfactory inquiry now that this current government has reneged on its promises on too many issues? I’m not sure and it is an ongoing shame. This is Canada and I believe our government can do better and our Indigenous community deserves nothing less.
