It’s been a challenging year for Thunder Bay police and Indigenous people in the city.

Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating how the force deals with Indigenous people and an officer allegedly made racist comments online.

But leaders are trying to mend bridges.

Nishnawbe Aski Nation have been pushing to have an Indigenous seat on the city’s police services board.

The board voted unanimously in favour on Tuesday.
