“We’re going to take away people that cut the grass, people that fill potholes.”

The mayor of Winnipeg thinks it would be a good idea if city employees got educated on residential schools.

This is, after all, the era of reconciliation.

But one city councillor shot down the idea.

Coun. Jeff Browaty had this to say about the training: “That would mean, in my mind, that we’re going to take away people that cut the grass, people that fill potholes and other important civic services to attend half of these sessions.”

He has since apologized for this comments.
