Stories from now-deceased Maliseet elders published despite copyright issue

The copyright problem hasn’t been settled, but a group of academics stepped in to help publish the stories anyway

In New Brunswick – a small Maliseet community celebrated national Aboriginal Day with a book launch.

The book was decades in the making – and it’s one that could challenge how Canadian copyright law looks at oral storytelling.
