Three men face first-degree murder charges after fatal shooting in Six Nations

Police say the shooting was in retaliation to an assault that occurred the previous night.

SIX NATIONS, Ont. — Police on Six Nations in Ont., have charged three men with first degree murder after a teenager was shot and killed Wednesday.

Police said they responded to calls of gunfire at a residence on First Line Road. Officers found three men suffering from gunshot wounds.

Two men were airlifted to the Hamilton General Hospital and according to police, the third man refused to go the hospital.

16-year-old Ashton VanEvery died of gunshot wounds. Another man remains in serious but stable condition.

Police say the shooting was in retaliation to an assault that occurred the previous night.

Three suspects have turned themselves into police. Dwight Ronald Walton, 19, Kenneth Paul Appleton, 24, and Irvin Allan Maracle, 56 are in custody pending a bail hearing.
