Yukon Appeal Court rules government failed treaty obligations on Peel River development

Court ruling seen as partial victory

A long and divisive battle in the Yukon over land development in the Peel River watershed may be coming to an end.

In December, the Yukon Supreme Court ruled the territorial government failed to honour its treaty obligations with First Nations.

That decision was appealed by the government and now an Appeal Court ruling has been released.
