Ottawa’s latest homicide victim has been identified as an Aboriginal woman who moved to Ottawa a number of years ago from Sarnia, Ont.

Gail Fawcett, 54, was found Tuesday afternoon suffering from stab wounds screaming for help. She was pronounced dead a short time later in hospital.

Her long-time boyfriend Gino Langevin, 45, was arrested on scene and has been charged with first-degree murder.

Fawcett’s sister Sheila Fawcett-Yendall said on her Facebook page Monday that she was “numb” and “so lost for words.”

It’s believed Fawcett is from the Aamjiwnanng First Nation in Sarnia.

It was the city’s fifth homicide of the year.
