Plattsburgh, NY—A 26 year-old Akwesasne man charged in the killing of his mother is facing an extradition hearing scheduled for March 12 in Plattsburgh, NY.

Ryan Lazore surrendered to New York State troopers on Dec. 30 at the Twin Leaf gas station on the U.S. side of Akwesasne after walking several kilometres from his home in the Snye section of the community which sits in Quebec.

Canadian authorities are seeking Lazore’s extradition so he can be put on trial for the murder.

Lazore allegedly killed his mother Laurie Lazore with a knife which was seized by Akwesasne Mohawk police, according to U.S. federal court documents.

Lazore told the troopers he had been in a fight with his mother and cut her “everywhere,” according to the court documents.

A U.S. federal judge set the March date following a January hearing because he wasn’t convinced Lazore understood the process he faced.

So sad, I’m guessing he has mental disabilities. Nobody thinks to help these mothers who have grown children that are big burly men (many can’t control their temper) ~ until its too late. Now this man has to defend himself in jail, when he may have the mentality of a 10 year-old.
