Man, 21, charged with attempted murder, aggravated sex assault in attack on girl, 6

APTN National News
A young man has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated sexual assault and kidnapping in the attack of a girl, 6, on Paul First Nation in Alberta Saturday.

The RCMP charged James Clifford Paul, 21, Monday after the little girl was reportedly found naked and in the snow by family members Saturday.

Police said Paul was arrested without incident and within a day. He is known to police.

The victim had been tobogganing when she reportedly went home to change her wet clothes. It was around then that she was attacked.

Paul knows the victims, police said.

The victim hasn’t regained consciousness and police said she is stable, but in serious condition.

For a bit it was a “life or death” situation, police said.

The family, through a band statement, has asked for privacy.

“Paul First Nation is asking the media for privacy … We trust the family’s wishes will be fully respected so they can focus all of their energy, attention and prayers on the victim’s immediate well-being,” the statement said.

That’s terrible for this young girl, here’s hoping she makes a full recovery and my thoughts and prayers for the family. It’s tough. Words alone cannot express the rage I have for this animal responsible for this heinous crime. I don’t wish bad things on people but sometimes you cannot help yourself. I’m sure Gladue will have a hand in this in that this animal will play the get out of jail card. Here’s hoping people don’t forget this happened when they see this bastard walking down the street.

  2. Sick. Prayers and best wishes for the family and most especially the little innocent who was so seriously hurt. I hope she recovers. <3

  3. Sending prayers & love for the little girl and her family… I hope she recovers fully and is put into therapy immediately when she is well enough… Such a violent and cowardly act against such a young child. Creator watch over her and protect her and heal her body, mind and spirit… <3
