Ottawa business apologizes to First Nation woman for not accepting status card

There’s nothing in Ontario law that says businesses have to offer the tax exemption.

The owner of an Ottawa Home Hardware apologized to a First Nations woman Monday who recently tried to use her status card for a point of sale tax exemption only to be told the store didn’t accept them.

There’s nothing in Ontario law that says businesses have to offer the tax exemption.

Still, executives from Home Hardware were also on hand for the apology.

APTN’s Annette Francis has the story.
