That controversy erupted again recently when a non-indigenous woman began a fashion line that some argue rips off indigenous themes.

As APTN’s Danielle Rochette found out, the designer isn’t backing down.

    Seriously all the controversy is so revolting.

    If anyone else wanted to make an Aboriginal inspired clothing-line, they should have done so already. Someone using designs inspired by our culture, I for one am flattered, and would take it as a compliment.

    How is it her fault she knows how to market herself properly? And if it bothers you so much, go to school, stop whining and make a clothing-line better than hers.

  2. i think that selling art and making art and claiming it as a certain culture is wrong. She is tapping into a market exploiting culture and tradition. albeit, a lot of people do this…a lot of countries do this…and it seems the point of the whole thing is…Sell your own culture. If you are european…sell european..if you are chinese…sell only chinese stuff….I think that…being Anishinaabe, and especially in this day in age of people trying to hang onto what little we have left…its like taking a strand off of a buckskin jacket. When will they stop taking?…that is my point of view, Justina Keewatin, Anishinaabe Ikwe…
