One of the chiefs represented by the SCO is Francine Meeches.
Meeches is leading a charge against, what she says, is the corruption among some aboriginal organizations.
Furthermore she says she wants new standards set up for governance and transparency.
APTN’s Shaneen Robinson traveled to Swan Lake Manitoba to speak with chief Meeches.
This woman is a great leader!
“Without Prejudice” – I am so proud of Francine Meeches’ stand on this very common practice of our elected leaders right across Canada. We’ve read the same type of corruption in newspapers, books, internet, etc. . . so no one can say that we are fabricating this very immoral practice of “abuse of power and authority” on their own community members.
I live in another part of Canada and right now, we are trying to expose our elected Chief and Council for exactly the same immoral practices and right now, we are being threatened to be charged with “defamation of their characters?!?” by one of their numerous lawyers that they employ. I call this moral and legal situation as “The Oppressed have become the Oppressors”. This is the term that is being used by the common people who are not connected at all with their elected members. In these governing offices, they use the NEPOTISM system to ensure that none of their illegal practices ever get out to the community. I could go on and on but you get the picture, The SCO situation is NOT AN ISOLATED CASE WHICH IS SO SAD!!!
