Manitoba’s grand chiefs are calling for the resignation of Manitoba’s children’s advocate.

This comes after the advocate, Darlene McDonald, criticized the amount of money being spent on an inquiry looking into the death of a First Nations child.

Five year-old Phoenix Sinclair died at the hands of her mother and stepfather in 2005 after years of abuse.

The inquiry into her death has been delayed numerous times by legal procedures.

McDonald said the money involved in the inquiry would be better spent elsewhere in the child welfare system.
