The remains of two women have been found near Grand Prairie, Alta.

The first to be identified was 19 year-old Rene-Lynn Gunning.

She went missing in 2005.

Gunning and her friend Krystle Knott, 16, were last seen at West Edmonton Mall in February 2005.

They told friends they were planning on hitchhiking home to B.C.

Police discovered Gunning’s remains about 60 kilometres south of Grand Prairie.

Gunning’s father Jo Gunning said this was not something he wanted to hear, but something he needed to know so he could move on.

The remains of another girl found next to her have not yet been positively identified.
