British Columbia chiefs are threatening blockades if the province doesn’t start to deal with outstanding title and rights issues.
This after a recent B.C. Supreme Court ruling that stated First Nations were not property consulted when a ski resort was incorporated as a village.
Calling it an injustice, chiefs in the area now demand the province stop ignoring their concerns and sit down and negotiate.

I have always wondered why F.N’s don’t just exert their rights-i.e just fish ,hunt ,trade and use the resources of their traditional territories as they see fit- rather than using settler courts & laws to prove or validate their ‘land claims’.The only one’s with a land claim are the settlers.nFirst Nations could shut this county down with coordinated flying road blocks etc …It must be obvious to all that this is the only type of pressure that does & will get settler governments to the table.nThat said when the Indian Act Chiefs are payed by & empowered by the same settler government perhaps its ‘understandable’ why such action are rarely promoted never-mind followed through with ( at least with the support & sanction of Indian Act Chiefs & Band Councils)
