A Winnipeg First Nations man who claimed two city police officers took him on a starlight tour in December made his first court appearance Monday.

Evan Maud, 20, is accused of public mischief.

Winnipeg police investigated Maud’s claim and concluded it was false.

Maud did not enter a plea and his next court appearance is set for March 1.

Maud, however, is sticking to his story that the Winnipeg police officers took him to the edge of town and threatened him with a Taser before making him walk home without a winter jacket.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Evan Maud’s allegations have been proven false and he has publicly apologized to the Winnipeg police service.
