  1. Mr. Digger, there was no physical confrontation. I worked in law-enforcement and I know that officers must use reasonable force. The back of every policeman’s notebook has the chart at the back!n Killing someone because they have a bat and a knife is not reasonable force. Every policeman has a baton and a taser … no need to fire your weapon three times into a kid (under 18 one is still a minor).

  2. I don’t understand why the blame is being laid on the police here. This “boy” was almost 18 years old and had a fairly extensive criminal record (robbery, assault) and was about to be arrested for another offense. When he failed to obey the police officer’s command to drop his weapons HE made another bad choice. I doubt the officer who pulled the trigger had any time to determine the age or ethnicty of this person and even if he did, would it have mattered? The officer did what he had to do, what he was trained to do….he shot and consequently the suspect died. This “boy” obviously had no respect for the law. What person can’t understand that if you come charging at a police officer with weapons in hand, there’s a good chance you’re going to die. The “boy” was responsible for his own death, not the police.

  3. Lawsuits, that is what is needed – serious lawsuits!n The police shot a boy with a baseball bat and a knife three times? This is simply outrageous! How many police officers were present at the time? Are there witnesses? That police officer who pulled the trigger should spend the rest of his sorry days in solitary confinement if the story is indeed as bad as it sounds.
