Top Sask chief admits driving drunk

The grand chief of the biggest First Nations organization in Saskatchewan has pleaded guilty to drinking and driving.

-The grand chief of the biggest First Nations organization in Saskatchewan has pleaded guilty to drinking and driving.

Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations Grand Chief Guy Lonechild pleaded guilty in provincial court Tuesday.

He will be sentenced on March 23.

Police attempted to stop Lonechild on Sept. 3, 2009, he continued to drive before finally pulling over. He was charged with refusing to provide a breath sample and failure to stop for police.

The incident happened a month before he was elected as the top chief of the federation.

Lonechild issued a statement saying he took full responsibility for his actions.
