Health Canada is investigating the death of a man in the Manto Sipi Cree Nation in Manitoba. The community is located about 600-kilometres northeast of Winnipeg. On Sunday evening, 27 year old Kirby Wood sought medical treatment at a Health Canada nursing station on the reserve.
Less than 24 hours later Wood was dead.
The organization that represents northern reserves says the death shows the poor state of health care in the north.
There are now calls for an inquest to look into his death.
