A 69-year-old First Nations man with Alzheimer’s who had been languishing in a Winnipeg jail will be released.

Joe McLeod was released Friday on bail and placed in a special care home bed.

McLeod slipped through the cracks of Manitoba’s justice system and found himself incarcerated.

McLeod pushed his wife of over 40 years after he became disorientated and failed to recognize her, according to his wife Rose McLeod.

McLeod called the police and said officers pressured her into pressing charges against her ailing husband.
