IQALUIT–A Canadian priest living in Belgium is wanted in Nunavut for alleged sex crimes against children.

Eric Dejaeger has already served a five year sentence for abusing children in Baker Lake, Nunavut, between 1982 adn 1989.

After his sentence, he moved to Belgium where he has been living freely.

But that may soon come to an end.

In 2002, the Nunavut court issued a warrant for Dejaeger’s arrest for child sex crimes in Igloolik, Nunavut, between 1978 and 1982.

Belgian police say they questioned Dejaeger this week but released him because Canada had not requested extradition.

Canadian justice officials would not confirm or deny they are seeking Dejaeger’s extradition.
